Many would say the answer to this question is obvious, the Allied Powers won WWII. But who was one of the main powers of the Allied forces? The Soviet Union. I always found it fascinating that within a few years of fighting alongside the Soviet Unions Red Army, the Cold War started. The fact that within that short period of time, all the anti communist propaganda was pushed in the United States, and the Russians were viewed as the biggest threat to our way of life. I guess many would say an enemy of my enemy is my friend, and being that the Communist’s had such a strong dislike for the Fascist’s in Nazi Germany, maybe that’s why we were so eager to fight on the Russian’s side.
First We should look back on the 1930’s in Europe. There was the rise of Communism and Fascism. It was very apparent that the two groups did not align at all, as many Communists were driven out of Germany, and there were many instances of violence between the two sides. The Communist’s claimed to be the party for the working class, “workers of the world unite” as stated in the Communist Manifesto. The Fascist’s believed in the direct alliance between corporations and the state, as opposed to central planning of the economy and business by the state alone. Both systems lead to the oppression of the people, so arguing which one is better or worse to me is pointless.
Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB member, best summarized how the Communist’s had already infiltrated the Western world through a process called Ideological Subversion. This had been taking place in America long before he had gone on the record in pointing it out. I feel the least arguable time to say this process started in America, was in the 1960’s. The four stages of Ideological Subversion are demoralization, destabilization, crisis, and normalization.
Stage one really started to gain momentum in the 1960’s with the indoctrination and brainwashing of the baby boomer generation. I would argue it started with their parents generation, and the way they were so quick to “stand up for American values” by signing up to fight in foreign wars like WWI and WWII. They were not able to see how the American government was entangling itself in foreign affairs which lead to the trigger points that got Americans to accept entering the wars. This is much more difficult to argue and point out so I will stick with the 1960’s as the time frame for the start of demoralization. During this time you had the push towards the acceptance of big government. This was done through things like the war on poverty, social security, higher taxes, government intervention in healthcare, and unionization just to name a few. Most of this generation today believes that the state has an obligation to provide for them. They do not have the original American value of self reliance, rugged individuality, and allowing others to have the ability of opting out of funding programs such as social security, welfare, and public schools. Most won’t admit it but, the people do not have a problem with the state using force against another person if they refused to pay into such programs. The Communist way of believing in everyone contributing to the greater good of society has completely taken over America, and most people cannot even see it. You can point out to them that history shows these ideas are against all the principles of the founding fathers, yet they still are naive to the fact. Most Americans, Republican or Democrat, support Communist ideas, but they have been demoralized to the extent that they are blind to it.
Currently, in America, we are at the end of stage two, which is destabilization. I believe this started with the Vietnam War and the “guns and butter” revolution, which lead to massive money printing. On August 15th 1971, when America officially defaulted on it’s promise to exchange the U.S Dollar for gold to foreign countries, it proved that America was over extending itself. Since then, we have been in a massive, inflationary environment that has been slowly wiping out the middle class who still believe in working hard and saving the dollar to get ahead. During this time, the rich and the connected, who understand the game, have become very wealthy. This has created a massive wealth gap and the enslavement of the middle class American to the debt based economic model. We have experienced many booms, busts, and bubbles since 1971 that are still continuing to manifest today. The U.S. Economy and it’s currency are extremely unstable with no plans by the elite in Washington to change course. The goal of the politicians in Washington is to make the middle class as dependent on the system as possible by trapping them in the rat race with no way to get their head back above water. The second stage is close to ending in America, and when it does, the former middle class will be in the streets like always, demanding someone else to fix their problems for them. I highly doubt American’s will finally wake up to the fact that is was government that created all of these problems in the first place.
Stage three is the part that frightens me the most. What will be the crisis that the elite will unleash to bring the people to their knees? Many can speculate, but nobody really knows. All I know is the vast majority of people will turn over more power to the government and surrender the last of their personal freedom and liberty. This is when those who still stand for old American values, that died in this country about 100 years ago, will be considered “enemies of the state”. That label, unfortunately, is never good to have during times of crisis.
Following this will be stage four, and the period of normalization. This is the time in which Communism officially wins over the hearts and minds of the population. The ones who have become impoverished will go along with anything that keeps their entitlement payments coming. Those who believed in true free market capitalism and self reliance will either have all of their assets stolen and redistributed, forced into hiding, or killed. Even those who don’t agree with the state using force and violence against those who oppose the communist way, will, for the most part, just go along with it so they can continue to live inside the new system.
After thinking through where we are today and how we got here since the end of WWII, ask yourself now, who was victorious? I firmly hold the view that the Communist’s of the world won the war. America has not been a true free market capitalist economy since 1913, and in my opinion this has been no accident. Ironically this was only four years prior to the Bolshevik Revolution. Crony capitalism and the merger of corporate and state powers in America was brought in to purposely create this massive wealth gap. The elites knew that this was the only way to ever get the Western world, in particular the United States, to adopt Communism one day. The political elite, and those closely connected to them, have always been in favor of a system that does not include a middle class. Maybe it will not be sold with the title of Communism, this time, but the roots are defiantly deeply embedded in the minds of most Americans today.
